Automation Success Stories • DSD
about a recent RoundWare test, DSD called and said: “we need to automate”. Our automation team was contacted, and a connection made to design, quote, and close the automation deal. • TREEHOUSE Treehouse has been a long-term customer of Inline Plastics. One way that we have been able to successfully differentiate ourselves at this account is through the use of automation, which has helped this customer improve their labor efficiency as well as deliver significant labor savings. This includes a recent investment in a new conveyor belt which will automate another line in their Utah facility, customized to their clamshell design. This means that our proprietary containers will be even more deeply embedded in the Treehouse systems and processes which will make it very difficult for a competitor to get into this account.

Tenacity and team effort would describe the DSD Merchandiser story. We had called on the owner for 3 years, presenting our tamper evident, tamper resistant packaging solutions. Our representative successfully sold our snack cups (800cs/year) and remained laser focused on converting DSD from their 2-piece plus shrink band to an Inline container. The opportunity was roughly 15,000cs/year in 2019. We knew that DSD’s current process was inefficient and that our automation solutions could deliver huge value. We continued to call on the owner in order to provide more value. While the primary barrier was container/band price, one day it was about total cost. DSD had realized that the 2-piece plus shrink band was too labor intensive. Twenty-one people on seven packing lines. It is now 2020 and the opportunity is roughly 20,000cs/year. Two distributors received pricing to quote the business. DSD was aware that Inline Plastics offered automation solutions and after researching, they discovered that no other thermoformer did. Soon after, a follow up call was made
