Automation Sales Stories

• Lofthouse / Ralcorp / Treehouse Foods – Utah

• Publix Supermarkets – Florida By 1992 Publix had started buying pie containers from Inline and were closing them all by hand. The workers complained of repetitive stress and carpal tunnel syndrome. To address the issue Inline developed and patented the pinch wheel ALD (automatic locking device) in 1993 to automatically close the containers for them in production, and the Automation program at Inline was born. Publix is now one of our largest customers. • Café Valley Bakeries – Arizona Ron Ogan and Jack Sutton started his business from humble begins in 1987, and have depended on Inline for containers and Automation solutions since 2000. They have 5 or 6 packaging lines that employ our ALD’s and TELS Labelers. • Dutch Valley Food Distributors – Pennsylvania Dutch Valley was a bulk food supplier to many in their region and they noticed their buyers were taking their bulk product- repackaging into plastic and selling at higher margins. They wanted in! They did the math and determined that they needed full blown Automation for re-packaging snacks into our Safe-T-Fresh® containers. We supplied the closers and helped them select the automatic weigh and fill machines, along with all the supporting equipment that we do not make. We have a great relationship with them, and they will continue to grow with us.

Back in 1995 David Stone in Utah started a bakery business out of his home kitchen selling Grandma Cookies, which is the sugar cookie with heavy amounts of bright pink frosting with bright sprinkles. As the business grew he changed the name of the company to Lofthouse Foods. He visited the Inline Booth at the 1997 IBIE trade show, where we were displaying our containers and our automation equipment, and he asked us to help him with a container. It was the automation equipment that drew him to our booth. His business had grown enough to warrant the need for efficient packaging systems. At the time he was using a Pactiv line lock style container. He had asked Pactiv to make some minor modifications to the container for him, but they refused. Over the course of the next few months Inline developed the SL47 container for him, and gave him an ALD machine to close them. Soon after, he also purchased a labeler from us. As the business grew, Inline designed new perimeter seal containers for Lofthouse, and the PALD (perimeter automatic locking device) to close them. Later they needed automatic labeling with a turning device for a wraparound label so Automation responded with the TELS Labeler (Tamper Evident Labeling System). The TELS2 machine was developed originally for Giant Foods, but fit nicely with Lofthouse’ growing production needs. Lofthouse has been sold a couple of times since, but they still use Inline containers. Today they have 9 packaging lines supplied by Inline. Lofthouse is now one of our largest customers.
